Second seed Lucas Pouille of France proceeded with his hold over Richard Gasquet, beating him 7-6, 6-4 in Montpellier on Sunday to win the Open Sud de France for his fifth CAREER ATP title.
It was Pouille’s fourth straight win against Gasquet, who was playing his 6th straight last at the competition. Gasquet won it in 2013, `15 and `16 yet passed up a major opportunity for a fifteenth profession title.
Pouille kept his fifth-seeded compatriot from directing mobilizes and constrained six shots on Gasquet’s serve, breaking him once. He didn’t confront a solitary break point alone serve and hit 10 experts in a far reaching execution.
Pouille trailed 6-1, 5-5 in his SEMIFINAL Saturday against third-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga when his OPPONENT resigned with hamstring INJURY.
